Legacy desktop for XP-dependent software

The Dell OptiPlex 780 DT is a desktop tower that ships with Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit and all drivers pre-installed. It is built for organisations or hobbyists who must run 32-bit applications that will not operate on newer operating systems.

Replaces ageing XP workstations

This unit upgrades from earlier Pentium 4 or Core 2 Duo machines that can no longer be repaired. The jump is worth it when legacy serial or parallel peripherals still require native driver support under XP.

Limited by 32-bit OS and DDR3 platform

The 32-bit Windows XP installation cannot address more than 4 GB of memory, so the fitted 4 GB DDR3 is the practical ceiling. The integrated Intel HD Graphics and eight USB 2.0 ports restrict modern peripheral and display options.
