OptiPlex 790 desktop for everyday tasks

This Dell OptiPlex 790 desktop computer ships new with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installed and a Certificate of Authenticity. An Intel quad-core i5 processor running between 2.9 GHz and 3.30 GHz handles web browsing, document editing and video playback. It suits students, home-office workers and anyone who needs a reliable, ready-to-use PC without configuring components.

4 GB DDR3 and 500 GB SATA drive headroom

The system includes 4 GB of DDR3 desktop memory and a 3.5-inch 500 GB SATA hard drive. Everyday multitasking with several browser tabs and office applications runs smoothly within the 4 GB limit. Memory can be expanded up to 16 GB DDR3 if heavier workloads appear. The 500 GB drive stores thousands of photos and documents, though large media libraries or modern game installations will fill it quickly.

Integrated graphics and quiet desktop operation

Intel HD Graphics 2000 drives the display outputs and handles video decode for typical office and streaming use. It is not suited to 3D rendering or current gaming titles. The DT chassis uses standard desktop cooling; fan noise stays low during light loads and rises only under sustained processor activity. Power draw remains modest thanks to the 65 W-class quad-core CPU and integrated graphics.

Questions about this item

Will the 4 GB DDR3 memory and Intel HD Graphics 2000 work with a legacy PCI add-in card I still use?

The system uses DDR3 DIMM 240-pin slots and includes an integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 controller; PCI expansion slots are present on the OptiPlex 790 motherboard for legacy cards.

How can I verify the Intel Quad Core i5 is reaching its 3.30 GHz turbo frequency under load?

Open Task Manager in Windows 10 Pro, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU clock speed while running a demanding task; it should rise toward 3.30 GHz when thermal headroom allows.

Does the box include a Wi-Fi antenna and Windows 10 Pro restore media, or must I order them separately?

The package supplies a USB keyboard, USB mouse, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth adapters with antenna, DVD-RW drive, and Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit restore media; no extra items are required for basic operation.
