Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower Desktop

This Dell OptiPlex 790 Mini Tower desktop is a new system built around an Intel 2nd Gen i7-2600 quad-core processor running at 3.40 GHz. It ships with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 128 GB SSD, and a 2 TB hard drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed with a Certificate of Authenticity. A keyboard and mouse are included in the box.

Sustained workload behaviour

The 265 W power supply supports the 64-bit quad-core CPU and its 3.90 GHz turbo boost during extended multi-tasking sessions. Dual-drive storage keeps the operating system responsive on the SSD while the 2 TB hard drive handles large file archives. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 and Gigabit Ethernet provide stable output for typical office applications.

Upgrade path and value

The motherboard accepts up to 16 GB of DDR3 RAM across 240-pin DIMM slots for buyers who need more memory headroom. The Mini Tower case offers internal bays for additional 3.5-inch drives if storage requirements grow beyond the factory 2 TB. Buyers who want discrete graphics or higher-wattage components should verify case and power-supply constraints before purchase.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise does the 265W power supply generate during all-day use?

The 265W power supply feeds the i7-2600 quad-core processor and dual-drive storage; under typical office loads the fan runs quietly and the chassis stays warm but not hot.

What must I already own to start working with this OptiPlex 790?

A monitor with VGA or DisplayPort input is required because the Mini Tower ships without a display; keyboard and mouse are included.

Will my existing DDR3 memory modules work alongside the installed 4GB stick?

Yes — the board uses 240-pin DDR3 DIMM slots, so compatible DDR3 modules can be added up to the 16GB maximum.
