Ready-to-use SFF desktop for home office

The Dell OptiPlex 790 small-form-factor PC arrives with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit pre-installed and a Certificate of Authenticity. An Intel quad-core i5 running between 2.9 GHz and 3.30 GHz works with 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a 128 GB 2.5-inch SSD. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 drives the display outputs while Gigabit Ethernet handles wired networking.

Included peripherals and expandability

A USB keyboard and USB mouse are bundled so the system is usable straight from the box. A DVD-RW drive reads and writes CDs and DVDs for software installation or media playback. The desktop also provides Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for wireless accessories and network access. Two DIMM slots support up to 16 GB of DDR3 memory if additional capacity is required later.

Compatibility checks before ordering

Verify that your monitor provides a video input matching the available ports on this SFF chassis. Confirm that 128 GB of solid-state storage meets the space requirements for your applications and files. Ensure that integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 satisfies the graphical demands of the software you intend to run. The 240-pin DDR3 form factor limits memory upgrades to DDR3 modules only.

Questions about this item

Can the 8 GB DDR3 memory be expanded later, and what is the maximum supported?

The system supports up to 16 GB of DDR3 memory across its DIMM slots, so you can add modules later if needed.

Which component will hit its limit first during sustained heavy workloads?

The Intel HD Graphics 2000 integrated GPU will reach its performance ceiling before the quad-core i5 processor under sustained graphical loads.

How much heat and noise should I expect when the SFF case runs all day?

The small form factor chassis uses a compact cooler for the 65 W class processor; expect moderate fan noise and warm exhaust after extended operation.
