Genuine Dell OEM intrusion switch for OptiPlex

This genuine Dell original equipment part is the chassis intrusion switch designed for the OptiPlex 9010 All-In-One desktop. It enables the system to detect when the case has been opened. System administrators and IT departments use it to maintain hardware security across managed fleets. The part number is PPX7R.

Restores physical tamper detection on supported

Installing this switch restores the hardware-level alert that notifies management software when the chassis is opened. Without it the system cannot report physical access events. It is not compatible with tower or small-form-factor OptiPlex 9010 models. Buyers needing intrusion detection for other Dell form factors or different generations will require a different part.

Questions about this item

Does the OptiPlex 9010 intrusion switch require periodic cleaning or replacement?

The switch is a passive mechanical sensor with no moving contacts that wear out; it does not need scheduled cleaning or replacement under normal use.

What fails first if the chassis is opened repeatedly over time?

The plastic actuator arm that presses the switch can fatigue after many cycles, making it the first part to show wear.
