Dell OptiPlex 9010 Mini Tower Desktop

This Dell OptiPlex 9010 Mini Tower desktop computer arrives new with Windows 10 Pro installed. A 3rd Gen Intel Core i7-3770 3.40 GHz quad-core processor and 16 GB of DDR3 memory handle office applications and multitasking. Storage combines a 2.5" 512 GB solid-state drive with a 1 TB hard drive for capacity. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 drives the display output.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

The Mini Tower chassis houses the power supply and components in a black and silver case designed for typical office environments. A DVD±RW optical drive is included in the front bay. Gigabit Ethernet provides wired network connectivity. USB keyboard and mouse are supplied with the system. No monitor is included in the package.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Four DIMM slots are populated with 4 GB modules each, leaving no free slots for memory expansion. The Intel Q77 chipset and FCLGA1155 socket limit processor upgrades to the same generation. Integrated graphics share system memory and are not suited for demanding 3D workloads or modern gaming titles. Buyers needing discrete graphics performance or additional memory headroom should consider a different platform.

Questions about this item

How do I install additional memory in the OptiPlex 9010 and which step is often missed?

The system has four 240-pin DIMM slots, all occupied by 4 GB modules. To add memory you must remove existing sticks first because no slots are free.

Which component in this desktop will most likely need replacement after several years of daily use?

The 1 TB mechanical hard drive contains moving platters and will typically wear out before the 512 GB solid-state drive or the DVD±RW drive.

What thermal limit appears first when the i7-3770 runs at full load for extended periods in the Mini Tower chassis?

The CPU will hit its 77 °C junction-temperature ceiling and throttle clock speeds to stay within that limit.
