OptiPlex 9010 Mini Tower desktop

The OptiPlex 9010 Mini Tower is a desktop computer built around a 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3770 processor running at 3.40 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR3 memory, a 1 TB solid-state drive paired with a 2 TB hard drive, a DVD±RW optical drive and Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. A USB keyboard and mouse are included in the box.

Thermals noise and power draw

The system uses integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 rather than a discrete graphics card, which helps keep heat output and power consumption modest during typical office workloads. The Mini Tower chassis provides internal airflow for the processor and storage drives under normal use. No specific acoustic or thermal measurements are supplied by the manufacturer.

DDR3 memory with no free slots

All four DIMM slots are populated with the installed 8 GB DDR3 configuration, leaving zero slots available for future upgrades. Buyers who need more memory must replace the existing modules rather than add to them. The board uses standard 240-pin DDR3 DIMMs.

Questions about this item

How do I add more memory to the OptiPlex 9010 Mini Tower, and what is the common mistake?

The system has four 240-pin DDR3 slots, all occupied by 2 GB modules. You must replace the existing sticks rather than adding to empty slots.

Which storage drive in the 1TB SSD plus 2TB HDD combination is likely to need replacement first?

The 2TB mechanical hard drive has moving parts and a higher failure rate over time than the solid-state drive.

What thermal limit appears first when the i7-3770 runs sustained workloads in this Mini Tower?

The Intel HD Graphics 4000 shares the processor package, so the CPU temperature limit is reached before any discrete graphics threshold.
