Ready for home office work

The Dell OptiPlex 990 Mini Tower ships with an Intel Core i7-2600 quad-core processor running at 3.40 GHz, 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a 1 TB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed alongside a DVD-RW drive, USB keyboard and USB mouse. It suits students and home-office users who need a complete desktop without extra purchases.

Steady performance under load

The 265 W power supply feeds the CPU, which can reach 3.80 GHz with Turbo Boost during sustained multi-tasking. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 handles everyday visual tasks while the 64-bit architecture keeps background processes responsive. Gigabit Ethernet maintains consistent network throughput for cloud apps and large file transfers.

Compact tower with legacy expansion

The black and silver chassis fits standard DIMM 240-pin memory slots for future upgrades up to 16 GB. A 2.5-inch drive bay houses the SSD, leaving room for additional storage if required. Front and rear ports stay accessible in tight desk spaces, and the included optical drive supports physical media workflows.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise should I expect from the 265W power supply during long sessions?

The 265W unit is sized for the i7-2600 and integrated graphics, so sustained loads stay within its thermal envelope and the stock cooler runs quietly in a typical office.

Does the 8 GB DDR3 configuration require me to add a monitor and cables before first boot?

The tower ships with a USB keyboard and mouse but no display; you will need a VGA, DVI or DisplayPort cable and a monitor to use Windows 10 Pro out of the box.

Will the Intel HD Graphics 2000 drive a legacy VGA projector alongside a modern DisplayPort screen?

The integrated GPU supports dual independent outputs, so you can connect an older VGA projector and a newer DisplayPort monitor simultaneously.
