Legacy Windows XP Desktop

The Dell OptiPlex 990 SFF desktop PC arrives with Windows XP Pro pre-installed and all drivers configured. An Intel Core i7-2600 processor running at 3.4 GHz and 4GB of DDR3 memory power the system. A 1TB hard drive provides storage capacity for applications and data.

Specialised Use Case

This system suits users who require a genuine Windows XP environment for legacy software or hardware compatibility. Organisations needing modern operating systems, current security updates or support for contemporary applications should select different hardware. The small form factor chassis limits internal expansion options.

Operating System Decides Fit

Windows XP Pro is the determining specification for this desktop. Buyers needing a supported platform for daily productivity, internet browsing or modern software must choose a system with a current operating system. This unit is intended specifically for legacy-dependent workflows.

Questions about this item

Will the 4 GB DDR3 limit how many programs I can run at once?

The 4 GB DDR3 memory restricts multitasking; heavy workloads will hit the capacity ceiling quickly.

How loud and hot does the SFF chassis get during all-day operation?

The compact small-form-factor case relies on a single internal fan; sustained loads raise fan speed and chassis temperature noticeably.

Do I need to supply my own display and input devices?

Yes — no monitor, keyboard or mouse are included; you must connect them via the VGA or DisplayPort output and the six USB 2.0 ports.
