Compact i7-6700 desktop for entry gaming

This Dell OptiPlex small-form-factor system pairs a 3.40 GHz Core i7-6700 with 16 GB DDR3 and a 256 GB SSD to handle 1080p titles and everyday workloads. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed so the machine is ready for work or play immediately. The package adds a USB Wi-Fi adapter plus an RGB keyboard and mouse.

Simple plug-in setup with SFF limits

Power cord, Wi-Fi dongle and wired peripherals connect to the rear I/O in minutes, and the front RGB panel is controlled by the supplied remote. The slim chassis restricts graphics-card length and power headroom, so a low-profile GPU is the practical upgrade path. Internal drive bays are limited to the existing SSD.

Steady 1080p frame rates under load

The quad-core processor sustains its 3.40 GHz base clock during extended sessions, while air cooling keeps thermals in check inside the compact case. The SSD maintains quick asset streaming without the stutters seen on mechanical drives. Performance scales back only when the 16 GB memory ceiling is reached.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Intel Core i7-6700 is running at its 3.40 GHz base clock after setup?

Open Task Manager in Windows 10 Pro, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU frequency settle at 3.40 GHz under light load.

What ships in the box and what must I provide separately?

The box contains the OptiPlex SFF desktop, a wired RGB keyboard and mouse combo, a USB WiFi adapter, and the power cord; you supply the monitor and any additional peripherals.

Should I choose a different capacity if I need more than 256 GB of solid-state storage?

This unit includes a single 256 GB SSD; if you require more space you would need to add a second drive internally or use external storage.
