1U rack server with Xeon E3-1220v5, 4GB DDR4, H330 RAID controller and two 3.5" cabled drive bays
Installed Memory Size 4GB
HDD None
This Dell PowerEdge R230 is a 1U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E3-1220v5 quad-core processor running at 3.0 GHz. It ships with 4GB of DDR4 memory and a Dell PERC H330 12Gbps RAID controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. The chassis provides two 3.5-inch cabled drive bays for SAS or SATA drives and includes a DVD-ROM drive. A 250W cabled power supply and Matrox G200 graphics complete the base configuration.
The system suits small businesses or branch offices needing a compact, entry-level server for file, print or light application hosting with hardware RAID protection. It also fits IT teams who want iDRAC8 remote management for out-of-band monitoring. Organisations requiring redundant hot-swap power supplies, more than two internal drive bays, higher installed memory or a discrete GPU for compute workloads should evaluate other platforms.
The server supports a maximum of one processor, and the installed E3-1220v5 provides four cores at 3.0 GHz. This fixed single-socket design sets the performance ceiling for the platform; workloads that demand dual-socket scaling or higher core counts will need a different server chassis.

Other versions of this model
The four DIMM slots support DDR4 modules up to 2400 MT/s; actual speed depends on the installed Xeon E3-1220 v5 processor capability.
Use the iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller interface to view controller health, firmware version and virtual disk status, or check the BIOS RAID configuration utility during boot.
Rails and bezel are not included; they must be purchased separately. A power cable is supplied, but mouse, keyboard and video cable are also not included.
