1U rack server with single Xeon E5-2603v3 six-core 1.6GHz processor, 48GB DDR4, three 600GB 15K SAS drives and H730 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 48GB
HDD 3 x 600GB 15K
The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2603v3 six-core processor running at 1.6 GHz. It ships with 48 GB of DDR4 memory across twelve DIMM slots and three 600 GB 15K SAS drives managed by a PERC H730 RAID controller. The chassis supports up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays and includes a DVD-ROM drive, four 1 GbE ports and two PCIe 3.0 slots. A single 550 W redundant power supply and iDRAC8 remote management come standard.
Confirm that your rack can accommodate a 1U unit measuring 26.7 inches deep and 18.99 inches wide, and that your PDU can supply a 550 W redundant feed. The system arrives with 48 GB installed and the specifications list a maximum memory capacity of 48 GB, so no further DDR4 expansion is possible without replacing modules. Ensure your workload fits within the three 600 GB SAS drives or plan to populate the remaining five 2.5-inch bays with compatible SAS or SATA media. The PERC H730 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 for those additional drives.
This server suits teams needing a compact virtualisation host or application node with fast 15K SAS storage and hardware RAID in a single rack unit. Buyers who require GPU acceleration, more than two PCIe 3.0 slots, or raw storage capacity beyond 16 TB should consider alternative platforms. The single-socket configuration and 48 GB memory ceiling also limit workloads that demand higher core counts or larger memory footprints.

Other versions of this model
The unit ships with a single Xeon E5-2603v3 processor, 48 GB DDR4, three 600 GB 15 K SAS drives on the H730 controller, one 550 W redundant power supply, DVD drive, power cable and iDRAC8 Express. A second processor, extra memory modules, additional drive trays, rail kit, bezel, keyboard, mouse and video cable are not included.
The board has 12 DDR4 slots and supports up to 384 GB total; the installed 48 GB fills six slots. To expand, add matching 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB DDR4 modules in the remaining six slots — do not mix speeds above 2400 MT/s.
The single E5-2603v3 provides six cores at 1.6 GHz with no Turbo Boost, suited for light virtualisation, file and print services or web hosting; heavier databases or compute tasks will benefit from adding the second supported processor.
