A 1U rack server with a 10‑core Xeon at 2.3 GHz, 16 GB DDR4, three 1 TB SATA drives and an H730 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 16GB
HDD 3 x 1TB
The Dell PowerEdge R430 is a 1U rack server built for dense compute environments. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2650v3 ten-core processor running at 2.3 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory. The system includes a PERC H730 RAID controller with 1 GB cache managing three 1 TB 7.2K SATA drives in eight hot-plug 2.5-inch bays. Redundant 550 W power supplies and iDRAC8 remote management support continuous operation.
Moving from a tower workstation or an older 2U rack server to this 1U platform saves rack space while adding hot-plug drive bays and hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The jump is worth it when you need redundant power, lights-out management via iDRAC8 and the ability to add a second Xeon processor for up to 20 physical cores. The two PCIe 3.0 slots allow targeted I/O expansion without increasing chassis height.
The installed 16 GB DDR4 memory handles light virtualisation workloads and file services; the platform supports up to 384 GB across 12 DIMM slots when both processor sockets are populated. Three 1 TB drives provide 3 TB raw capacity with RAID 5 or 6 redundancy, and the eight-bay chassis accepts up to 16 TB total raw storage. The four 1 GbE ports and Matrox G200 video suit management and console tasks, while the single 550 W supply limits power headroom for dense GPU or high-wattage add-in cards.

Other versions of this model
The server is 26.7 inches deep, so the rack must provide at least that much clear depth behind the front rails for the chassis to sit fully inside.
Only Dell 2.5-inch hot-plug trays that latch into the R430 backplane will work; third-party or 3.5-inch trays will not engage the connector or the ejection lever.
Replace it if the iDRAC8 logs a power-supply fault, the amber PSU LED stays lit, or the unit fails to power on with both cords seated; keep a spare 550-watt Dell redundant supply on hand for immediate swap.
