2U rack server with dual eight-core Xeon processors, 16GB DDR4, two 600GB 15K SAS drives and H730 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 16GB
HDD 2 x 600GB
The Dell PowerEdge R530 is a 2U rack server built around dual Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processors running at 2.4 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory across twelve DIMM slots, two 600 GB 15K SAS drives and a PERC H730 RAID controller with 1 GB cache. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies and an iDRAC8 remote management module complete the platform.
This configuration suits teams running virtualised workloads, local databases or file services that benefit from the 15K SAS spindles and hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Organisations needing higher core counts, larger memory footprints or GPU-accelerated compute should evaluate other platforms. Buyers who require more than eight 3.5-inch drive bays or PCIe 4.0 expansion will not find those capabilities here.
The server supports up to 384 GB of DDR4 memory across twelve slots, with six slots wired to each processor. Installed memory currently totals 16 GB. This ceiling determines whether the chassis can absorb future consolidation or in-memory database growth without a platform change.

Other versions of this model
The H730 is a 12Gbps controller, but the installed 600GB 15K drives run at 6Gbps SAS, so the array operates at the drive link speed of 6Gbps.
The chassis is 25.4 inches deep and 17.1 inches wide, fitting a standard EIA rack; allow extra rear depth for cable management and the redundant 750W power supplies.
The two processors are pre-installed; 16GB DDR4 is populated across the 12 DIMM slots (six per CPU) and must follow the per-processor channel population order in the service manual.
