1U rack server with dual Xeon E5-2637 V3 3.5GHz CPUs, 48GB DDR4, H330 RAID controller, eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays and redundant 750W power
Installed Memory Size 48GB
HDD None
The Dell PowerEdge R630 fits two Xeon E5-2637 v3 processors and 48 GB of DDR4 memory into a single rack unit. Eight hot-plug 2.5-inch bays connect to a H330 RAID controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies keep the platform running during a module failure. iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller provides out-of-band management.
Organisations that need high core density and fast SAS or SATA storage in minimal rack space will benefit from the dual quad-core CPUs and 24 DIMM slots. Buyers who require more than eight drive bays should look at a larger chassis. Workloads that depend on GPU acceleration are not served by the Matrox G200 video adapter. The four onboard 1 GbE ports may limit throughput for storage-heavy clusters.
The drive bay count and controller combination dictates how many disks can be installed and which RAID levels are available. No drives or trays are included, so the buyer must supply compatible SAS or SATA media. Maximum supported capacity per drive is 14 TB. The dedicated PERC slot leaves up to three PCIe 3.0 slots free for additional networking or storage cards.

Other versions of this model
This unit provides eight 2.5" hot-plug bays for SAS or SATA drives; the 10-bay variant is a different chassis and not compatible with this 1U server.
Each Xeon runs at 3.5 GHz with four cores, giving eight physical cores and sixteen threads total for high single-thread performance in a 1U form factor.
The H330 supports 12 Gbps SAS and 6 Gbps SATA, so installed drives will run at up to those interface rates depending on the drive type fitted.
