1U rack server with Xeon E5-2620 V3 six-core processor, 16GB DDR4 memory, dual 600GB 15K SAS drives and H730 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 16GB
HDD 2 x 600GB 15K
The Dell PowerEdge R630 fits a single Intel Xeon E5-2620 V3 six-core processor at 2.4GHz with 16GB of DDR4 memory into a 1U rack footprint. Two 600GB 15K SAS drives and a PERC H730 RAID controller provide fast local storage for virtualisation hosts or database nodes. Redundant 750W power supplies and hot-swap drive bays keep the platform running during component replacement.
The chassis supports up to two processors and 24 DIMM slots, so memory bandwidth and core count can scale well beyond the shipped 16GB single-CPU configuration. DDR4 runs up to 2400MT/s depending on the installed CPU, feeding all cores during prolonged compilation, rendering or simulation jobs. The H730 controller with 1GB cache maintains consistent write throughput across RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 volumes under heavy I/O.
Three PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot constrain total expansion bandwidth to the capabilities of the third-generation interface. The 12Gbps SAS backplane caps drive throughput at that line rate, so faster solid-state media will not exceed the bus. Network daughter cards offer four 1GbE ports standard, with optional 10GbE upgrades fitting the same NDC form factor.

Other versions of this model
The server uses dual 750W redundant power supplies in a 1U form factor; fan speed and thermal output scale with CPU load and drive activity in the eight 2.5-inch bays.
The eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives and connect to the integrated PERC H730 controller; matching drive carriers and SAS cables are required for installation.
The PERC H730 supports RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 across SAS and SATA drives, so the 600GB 15K SAS disks can share an array with existing SATA media.
