1U rack server with dual 12-core Xeon Gold 5118 processors, 768GB DDR4 ECC memory, PERC H730P RAID controller, two 800GB SATA SSDs, quad-port 1GbE and 10GbE SFP+ networking.
The PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack server built around two Intel Xeon Gold 5118 processors running at 2.3 GHz with 12 cores each. It delivers 768 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 24 slots. The platform targets dense scale-out workloads such as virtualization clusters, database nodes and high-performance computing farms.
A PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache manages the two installed 800 GB SATA SSDs and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The quad-port network daughter card provides two 1 GbE ports and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections for flexible uplink options. Dual redundant 750 W platinum power supplies keep the system running during a unit failure. Buyers who need more than eight 2.5-inch drive bays or a different drive interface cannot use this chassis.
iDRAC 9 Enterprise enables full out-of-band control, firmware updates and console redirection over the network. The shipment includes ready rails for quick rack mounting and a front bezel for a clean appearance. No operating system, hypervisor licences or additional drive caddies are bundled. Administrators who require a built-in GPU or fibre-channel connectivity must add those separately.
