1U rack server with dual Xeon Gold 6134 CPUs, 768GB DDR4, PERC H730P RAID and eight 300GB SAS drives
The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rack server built for dense scale-out data centre workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6134 processors running at 3.2 GHz with eight cores each and 768 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory. The platform suits virtualisation hosts, database clusters and high-performance compute nodes that need maximum throughput in a single rack unit.
The chassis includes ready rails and a front bezel for straightforward rack mounting. Hot-swap drive bays and redundant 750 W power supplies simplify field replacement without downtime. The PERC H730P controller requires its battery-backed cache module to be seated correctly; missing or loose cables are the most common reason the array does not appear at boot.
Eight 300 GB 10K SAS drives deliver fast local storage for operating systems, logs and scratch space; capacity runs out quickly for large data sets or backup targets. The board supports up to 3 TB across 24 DDR4 slots, so memory headroom remains generous for expanding VM density or in-memory databases.

During POST the controller BIOS will list the H730P with its 2 GB cache and show each 300 GB 10 K SAS drive; you can also open the iDRAC9 Enterprise web interface to confirm every drive appears healthy and the desired RAID level is active.
The server ships with two Xeon Gold 6134 processors, 768 GB DDR4 across 24 slots, the H730P controller, eight 300 GB SAS drives, the X520/I350 quad-port network card, iDRAC9 Enterprise, dual 750 W PSUs, rails and bezel; only additional drives or memory would need separate purchase.
The 768 GB (24 × 32 GB DDR4 2666 MHz) fills every slot, so it suits workloads that fit in that capacity; if your application needs more than 768 GB you would have to replace modules with higher-capacity DDR4 to reach the 3 TB limit.
