The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server built for data-center density. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4316 processors running at 2.3GHz with 20 cores each, 512GB of DDR4 memory, a PERC H745 RAID controller and eight 1.8TB 10K SAS drives. Dual 1400W power supplies, iDRAC9 Enterprise, quad-port 1GbE networking, rails and bezel are included.

Suits dense virtualization and cloud nodes

This configuration suits teams that need high core counts and large memory in a single rack unit for virtualization, container platforms or database clusters. The eight 2.5-inch drive bays are populated with SAS hard drives, so buyers who want all-flash NVMe storage or more than eight drives should look at other chassis. GPU acceleration is not included.

PERC H745 with 4GB NV cache

The Dell PERC H745 front RAID controller provides 4GB of non-volatile cache backed by a battery and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. This controller determines the RAID levels and cache protection available for the installed 1.8TB SAS drives.
