2U rack server with dual 10-core Xeon CPUs at 2.3 GHz, 32 GB DDR4, two 1 TB SATA drives and an H330 RAID controller supporting RAID 0/1/5/10/50/60
Installed Memory Size 32GB
HDD 2 x 1TB
The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack-mount server system designed for virtualisation, database and general-purpose workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 processors, each providing ten cores at 2.3 GHz, delivering 40 threads with hyper-threading enabled. The chassis includes redundant hot-swap 750 W power supplies and iDRAC8 remote management.
The integrated Perc H330 12 Gbps RAID controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays. Two Dell 1 TB 7.2K 6 Gbps enterprise SATA drives are installed, providing immediate mirrored or striped capacity. The controller also accepts SAS drives for mixed configurations, and the DVD-ROM remains available for legacy media.
Installed memory is 32 GB of DDR4 across 24 slots, 12 per processor, with the platform supporting up to 1536 GB when fully populated with 128 GB modules at 2400 MT/s. The current configuration suits modest consolidation, but memory-intensive applications will require additional DIMMs. Seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot provide expansion headroom for networking or storage controllers.

Other versions of this model
The dual 750 W units are hot-swappable; a failed module can be replaced without shutting the server down.
The H330 handles 12 Gbps SAS/SATA links, so drive count and RAID level set the practical ceiling.
Two 10-core 2.3 GHz processors draw significant power; the 2U chassis uses multiple fans to keep temperatures in check.
