2U rack server with dual 18-core Xeon processors at 2.3GHz, 768GB DDR4 memory, eight 400GB SATA SSDs and a PERC H730 RAID controller
This new Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built for midsize and large enterprise workloads. It ships with dual Intel Xeon E5-2699 v3 processors, each running 18 cores at 2.3 GHz with 3.6 GHz turbo. The system includes 768 GB of DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC memory across 24 slots. Eight 400 GB SATA SSDs are installed behind a PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache.
The dual 18-core CPUs and large memory capacity fit virtual desktop infrastructure, database nodes and high-performance computing tasks. Quad-port networking with two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports handles mixed traffic. iDRAC 8 Enterprise provides full remote management. Buyers who need more than 1.5 TB of memory or more than two processor sockets should look elsewhere.
The storage subsystem centres on a Dell PERC H730 mini controller offering RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. It connects the eight 400 GB SATA SSDs over 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA links. Battery-backed cache protects in-flight writes during power loss. This controller choice determines the RAID levels and drive protocols available in the chassis.

Open the iDRAC 8 Enterprise web interface or watch the POST screen; both will list each 2.3 GHz 18-core processor and show 768 GB (24× 32 GB) DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC memory.
The unit includes 2× Xeon E5-2699 v3 CPUs, 768 GB DDR4, PERC H730 1 GB controller, 8× 400 GB SATA SSDs, X520/I350 quad-port card (2× 1 GbE + 2× 10 Gb SFP+), iDRAC 8 Enterprise, 2× 750 W PSUs, bezel and rails. No extra parts are required for basic operation.
This listing provides exactly eight 400 GB SATA SSDs filling the 2.5-inch bays; select it when you need that capacity and RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60 support from the H730 controller.
