2U rack server with dual ten-core Xeon CPUs, 32 GB DDR4, two 300 GB SAS drives and an H330 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 32GB
HDD 2 x 300GB
The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack system equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 processors, each providing ten cores at 2.3GHz for a total of 40 threads. It ships with 32GB of DDR4 memory and two 300GB 15K SAS drives managed by a PERC H330 RAID controller. This configuration targets organisations consolidating workloads or running moderate virtualisation clusters.
The chassis mounts on standard rack rails and the eight 2.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives with included trays. Memory upgrades use 24 DIMM slots, twelve per processor, and require matching modules per channel for optimal speed. The H330 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 but lacks a backup battery, so write caching is disabled during power loss.
Seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot provide expansion for additional controllers or network cards. The integrated daughter card delivers four 1GbE ports; optional NDC modules can add 10GbE connectivity. Maximum internal raw capacity reaches 64TB across the eight bays, and the DDR4 memory ceiling is 1536GB when all slots are populated with supported modules.

Other versions of this model
Enter the BIOS or iDRAC8 interface and verify each CPU shows 10 cores at 2.3 GHz; the system should report 40 logical threads when hyper-threading is enabled.
The box contains the 2U chassis, two E5-2650 v3 CPUs, 32 GB DDR4, two 300 GB 15K SAS drives with trays, H330 RAID controller, two 750 W redundant PSUs, DVD drive, and 4×1 GbE daughter card; operating system, additional drives, memory, or 10 GbE NDC are not included.
Start with the installed 32 GB if workloads are light; add matched DDR4 modules up to 128 GB per DIMM across the 24 slots to reach 1536 GB for virtualisation or database workloads that need large memory footprints.
