2U rack server with dual 22-core Xeon CPUs, 256GB DDR4, H730 RAID controller and dual 800GB SSDs
The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors running at 2.2 GHz, each with 22 cores and a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 256 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across 8 DIMMs and a Dell PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache. Two 800 GB SATA SSDs provide the initial storage pool for databases, virtualisation hosts or HPC data nodes.
Ready Rails and a front bezel are included, allowing the 2U chassis to slide into a standard rack without tools. Eight 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays and redundant hot-swap 750 W power supplies mean drives and PSUs can be replaced while the system runs. The PERC H730 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode; configuring the desired RAID level before loading the OS avoids a later rebuild.
Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency supplies share the load, keeping voltage stable when both CPUs and all memory channels are fully utilised. The Intel X520/I350 daughter card delivers two 10 Gb SFP+ ports alongside two 1 GbE links, preventing network saturation during long-running replication or backup jobs. iDRAC 8 Enterprise provides out-of-band monitoring and remote console access for lights-out management.
