2U rack server with one Xeon E5-2630 v3 at 2.4 GHz, 8 GB DDR4, two 300 GB 15 K SAS drives and an H730 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 8GB
HDD 2 x 300GB
The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built for virtualisation hosts, database nodes and compute clusters. It ships with one Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor at 2.4 GHz, 8 GB of DDR4 memory and two 300 GB 15 K SAS drives on a PERC H730 RAID controller. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies and iDRAC8 remote management come standard.
The chassis supports up to two processors and 24 DIMM slots, though only one CPU and 8 GB are installed. Verify that your workload can run on a single socket or budget for a second Xeon. The backplane accepts up to eight 2.5-inch hot-plug SAS or SATA drives; confirm cable routing and backplane version match the H730 controller before adding disks. PCIe 3.0 slots and the dedicated PERC slot are available for additional cards.
Two hot-swap 750 W power supplies operate in redundant mode, so each unit runs at partial load during normal operation. Fan speed ramps with inlet temperature and CPU utilisation; expect moderate airflow noise in a cooled rack aisle. The DVD-ROM drive adds negligible draw. Power consumption scales with processor count, memory population and drive quantity, so plan circuit capacity for the fully populated configuration.
