2U rack server with an eight-core Xeon at 2.4GHz, 8GB DDR4, two 300GB 15K SAS drives and an H330 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 8GB
HDD 2 x 300GB 15K
The Dell PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2630 v3 eight-core processor running at 2.4 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and two 300 GB 15 K SAS drives managed by a PERC H330 RAID controller. The platform targets small businesses and remote offices that need dense compute and hot-plug storage in a standard rack footprint.
Installed memory sits at 8 GB across 24 DDR4 slots, leaving ample headroom to scale toward the 1536 GB maximum supported by dual processors. The H330 controller handles RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across up to eight 3.5-inch hot-plug bays, so storage capacity can grow to 64 TB. Performance ceilings appear when memory bandwidth or the single CPU limit concurrent virtual machines or database threads.
Two 750 W hot-swap power supplies provide N+1 redundancy without external UPS dependency. The iDRAC8 Express module enables out-of-band monitoring, firmware updates and virtual console access over a dedicated network port. Four onboard 1 GbE ports handle production traffic, while seven PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated PERC slot accommodate additional NICs, HBAs or GPU accelerators. Buyers needing 10 GbE connectivity or higher single-thread performance should evaluate other platforms.

Other versions of this model
The server runs DDR4 up to 2400 MT/s across 24 slots; your modules must be DDR4 and will operate at the speed the processor supports.
Open the H330 BIOS utility or iDRAC8 interface after boot; both drives should appear in a healthy RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 or 60 virtual disk.
The unit ships with two 300 GB SAS drives in trays, two 750 W redundant power supplies and a DVD drive; rails and additional trays are not included.
