2U rack server with dual 14-core Xeon processors at 2.4 GHz, 64 GB DDR4 memory, H730 RAID controller and twelve 6 TB SATA hard drives
The PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2680 v4 processors. Each CPU runs at 2.4 GHz with 14 cores and a 3.3 GHz turbo frequency. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory across four slots. It is built for midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, e-commerce platforms, virtual desktop infrastructure, databases or high-performance computing data nodes.
Twelve 6 TB 7.2K SATA drives connect to a Dell PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache and battery backup. The controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode for software-defined storage. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundant hot-swap power. Quad-port networking delivers two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links via an Intel X520/I350 daughter card. iDRAC 8 Enterprise enables remote management and monitoring during extended operations.
Verify that your rack accepts 2U depth and that power distribution can supply two 750 W units. Confirm the SATA drive interface matches your storage topology and that the PERC H730 RAID modes meet your redundancy requirements. Ensure network infrastructure supports SFP+ 10 Gb connectivity for the X520 ports. Memory expansion uses DDR4 registered ECC modules up to a 1.5 TB system maximum across 24 slots.

Other versions of this model
Each supply is rated at 750 watts with platinum efficiency, so typical heat output under load is noticeably lower than standard units while still delivering full redundancy.
The chassis includes twelve hot-swap 3.5 inch carriers and the PERC H730 controller uses internal SAS cables that ship with the server.
Yes, iDRAC8 Enterprise is fully supported by OpenManage and integrates with the same dashboard used for earlier PowerEdge generations.
