2U rack server with dual Xeon E5-2609v3 CPUs, 64 GB DDR4, three 300 GB SAS drives and H330 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 64GB
HDD 3 x 300GB
The Dell PowerEdge R730XD fits twenty-four 2.5-inch hot-plug bays into a 2U rack chassis. Dual Xeon E5-2609 v3 processors and 64GB of DDR4 memory provide a balanced platform for storage-heavy workloads. Three 300GB 15K SAS drives and an H330 RAID controller deliver immediate redundant capacity. Redundant 750W power supplies and iDRAC8 remote management complete the package.
This server targets teams that need maximum drive density in a shallow rack footprint. The 24-bay layout supports SAS or SATA media and RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60. It is not for deployments requiring more than 24 drive bays, nor for workloads demanding more than 64GB of RAM with the current CPU configuration.
The defining specification is the twenty-four 2.5-inch hot-plug drive bays in a 2U form factor. This density determines whether the R730XD matches a given rack-space budget and storage-capacity target.

Other versions of this model
The server ships with two E5-2609v3 CPUs, 64GB DDR4 memory, three 300GB 15K SAS drives in hot-plug trays, a PERC H330 RAID controller, two 750W redundant power supplies and a DVD drive. An operating system is not included and must be supplied separately.
The chassis provides up to 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch bays for SAS or SATA drives; three are populated. Memory is at the 64GB installed limit for this CPU configuration, with 24 DIMM slots total and support for modules up to 128GB each when faster processors are fitted.
The H330 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across the 24 drive bays, providing hardware parity and striping for the installed 6Gbps SAS drives and any additional SAS or SATA drives you add.
