A 2U rack server with dual eight-core Xeon CPUs, 64 GB DDR4, an H330 RAID controller and twenty-four 2.5-inch hot-plug bays
Installed Memory Size 64GB
HDD None
The Dell PowerEdge R730XD is a 2U rack system built for workloads that demand high drive density. Dual Intel Xeon E5-2630v3 processors provide 16 physical cores and 32 threads at 2.4 GHz, while 64 GB of DDR4 memory fills half the 24 available DIMM slots. The platform targets storage-heavy applications such as software-defined storage, backup repositories or media archives.
Twenty-four 2.5-inch hot-plug bays accept SAS or SATA drives, allowing drive swaps without downtime. Two 750 W redundant power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails. The PERC H330 controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across the backplane. A DVD-ROM drive and Matrox G200 graphics handle basic media and console output.
Six PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated RAID slot limit expansion to the 3.0 generation and its lane counts. The standard daughter card delivers four 1 GbE ports; optional NDCs can raise that to 10 GbE but the base configuration tops out at gigabit speeds. Maximum supported memory reaches 1536 GB, yet the installed 64 GB and processor memory controller cap actual speed at 2400 MT/s.

Other versions of this model
The H330 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across the 24 hot-plug 2.5" bays.
The server occupies 2U of rack height and measures 26.8" deep by 17.44" wide; a compatible rail kit is included for mounting.
Both CPUs are pre-installed; the 64GB DDR4 populates 12 slots per processor, so memory must be balanced evenly across the two CPU sockets.
