The Dell PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v3 2.6 GHz 10-core processors and 512 GB of DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC memory across 16 slots. A PERC H730 1 GB controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with pass-through. Twelve 3.5-inch SAS/SATA drive trays, dual 750 W platinum power supplies, quad-port networking and iDRAC 8 Enterprise complete the platform.

Suits databases, VDI and high-performance

This configuration targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, e-commerce, virtual desktop infrastructure or HPC data nodes that benefit from high core counts, large memory capacity and dense internal storage. Buyers who need more than 24 memory slots, more than two processors or a chassis smaller than 2U should look at a different platform.

PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache and battery

The storage controller defines the RAID levels available and the write-cache protection for the 12 drive bays. RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 are supported with the included battery-backed cache. If a workload requires a different RAID feature set, controller cache size or drive interface, this server will not match.
