2U rack server with dual 22-core Xeon CPUs at 2.2 GHz, 128 GB DDR4 ECC memory, H730 RAID controller and 24 bays of 800 GB SATA SSDs
The Dell PowerEdge R730xd packs 24 drive bays and dual 22-core Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors into a 2U rack chassis. It ships with 128GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory and a PERC H730 controller with battery-backed cache. Twenty-four 800GB SATA SSDs deliver high-capacity flash storage in a single appliance. Redundant 750W platinum power supplies and iDRAC8 Enterprise management complete the package.
This configuration suits databases, virtual desktop infrastructure and data-warehouse nodes that benefit from many SATA SSD slots and high core counts. The quad-port 1GbE and 10Gb SFP+ daughter card supports mixed network traffic without extra cards. Buyers who need more than two processor sockets, more than 1.5TB of memory or drive interfaces other than SATA and SAS should evaluate alternative platforms.
The chassis provides 24 hot-swap 2.5-inch bays wired to the PERC H730 controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. This bay count and controller combination is the decisive factor for deployments that require dense local storage with hardware RAID in a 2U form factor.

Other versions of this model
Yes, the dual 10Gb SFP+ ports require compatible SFP+ transceivers and fibre or direct-attach cables that are not included with the server.
The H730 supports mixed-capacity SATA SSDs in the same array; new drives will be limited to the smallest drive size in each virtual disk.
Check the iDRAC8 Enterprise System Overview or the BIOS Processor Settings screen — both should show two CPUs, each reporting 22 cores at 2.2GHz base frequency.
