2U rack server with 24 drive bays

This 2U rack server delivers dense storage in a compact chassis. It ships with a single Intel Xeon E5-2609v3 six-core processor at 1.9GHz and 16GB of DDR4 memory. Three 300GB 15K SAS drives and a Perc H730 RAID controller with 1GB cache are installed. Dual 750W redundant power supplies and a DVD ROM complete the base configuration.

Verify rack depth and CPU socket count

The chassis measures 26.8 inches deep, so confirm your rack can accommodate that length. Only one processor is installed but the board supports a second Xeon for additional cores. Memory runs at speeds up to 2400MT/s depending on the CPU; the 24 DIMM slots allow expansion to 1536GB total. The system includes a 4-port 1GbE daughter card with optional 10GbE upgrades.

H730 controller enables flexible RAID

The bundled H730 12Gbps RAID card supports levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across the 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch bays. Drives ship with trays included. iDRAC8 Express provides out-of-band management with Lifecycle Controller; Enterprise licensing and vFlash media are optional upgrades. Six PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated RAID slot remain available for add-in cards.

Questions about this item

What components are included and what must be purchased separately?

The chassis includes a single Xeon E5-2609v3 processor, 16 GB DDR4 memory, three 300 GB 15K SAS drives with trays, H730 RAID controller, DVD drive and dual 750 W redundant power supplies. A second processor, additional memory modules, extra drives, operating system and optional network daughter cards are not included.

Which memory capacity should I choose for this server?

The system ships with 16 GB DDR4 installed across 24 DIMM slots. Supported module sizes are 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 and 128 GB DDR4 up to 2400 MT/s; actual speed depends on the processor. Maximum total capacity is 1536 GB when both processor sockets are populated.

What does the 1.9 GHz clock speed mean for real-world performance?

The Xeon E5-2609v3 runs six cores at 1.9 GHz, providing a base frequency for multi-threaded workloads. Turbo Boost is not supported on this model, so sustained performance stays at the rated speed. Actual throughput depends on memory configuration, storage RAID level and the application profile.
