2U rack server with 24 hot-plug 2.5" bays, single Xeon 10-core 2.3GHz, 16GB DDR4, three 300GB SAS drives and H330 RAID controller
Installed Memory Size 16GB
HDD 3 x 300GB
The Dell PowerEdge R730XD is a 2U rack server built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2650 v3 processor with 10 cores at 2.3 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and three 300 GB 15K SAS drives managed by a PERC H330 RAID controller. Dual 750 W redundant power supplies and 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch drive bays support high-capacity storage workloads. The system includes a DVD-ROM drive and iDRAC8 remote management.
This configuration suits environments that need many drive bays in a compact chassis, such as backup repositories, surveillance storage or software-defined storage nodes. The single-socket layout limits thread count to 20 virtual cores, so buyers who require dual-processor performance or larger memory footprints should consider other platforms. The installed 16 GB DDR4 is well below the 1536 GB maximum, leaving room for expansion if the workload demands it.
The chassis provides up to 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch bays for SAS or SATA drives, with a maximum raw capacity of 52 TB. The H330 controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and 60 across those bays. Network connectivity comes from a 4-port 1 GbE daughter card, with optional 10 GbE upgrades available. Six PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated RAID slot allow additional I/O expansion.
