Four-socket 3U rack server with 4x Xeon Platinum 8160 24-core processors, 256 GB DDR4 ECC memory, eight 600 GB SAS drives on a H730P controller and dual 1600 W power supplies
Installed Memory Size 256GB
HDD 8 x 600GB 10K SAS
CPU Model Platinum 8160
The Dell PowerEdge R940 is a 3U rack server equipped with four Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors. Each CPU runs at 2.1 GHz with 24 cores and a 3.7 GHz turbo frequency. The system ships with 256 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules. A PERC H730P controller manages eight 600 GB 10K SAS drives in 2.5-inch bays.
This server suits environments that demand high core counts and large memory capacity in a compact 3U form factor. Redundant 1600 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC 9 Enterprise remote management support continuous operation. Buyers who require solid-state storage or more than eight drive bays should evaluate alternative configurations.
The platform provides 48 DDR4 DIMM slots with a maximum supported capacity of 6 TB. Only DDR4 registered ECC modules are compatible; other memory generations will not fit. Current population uses eight slots, leaving 40 slots available for future expansion.
