Enterprise 5U Server

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server that supports optional rack conversion. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4110 processors running at 2.1GHz with 3.0GHz turbo across 16 total cores. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory occupy four of sixteen slots. The PERC H330 controller manages SAS and SATA drives across sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays.

Build Integration

Four 2.5-inch drive trays are included for immediate storage installation. Dual integrated gigabit Ethernet ports provide network connectivity without additional cards. iDRAC 9 Express enables remote management and lifecycle control out of band. PCI Express slots remain available for RAID, networking, GPU or other expansion cards. Two 750-watt platinum power supplies deliver redundant hot-swap power.

Thermals and Power

Redundant 750-watt platinum power supplies share load and allow maintenance without shutdown. Hot-swap drive bays and power units support continuous operation during hardware changes. Tower orientation uses front-to-rear airflow suited to office or data-centre environments. Rack conversion maintains the same thermal path when mounted in a standard cabinet.

Questions about this item

How many drive bays does the 16-bay chassis actually support with the four included 2.5" trays?

The chassis provides sixteen 2.5" hot-swap bays, but only four drive trays are included so twelve additional trays are required to populate every slot.

What is the typical power draw and thermal output when both 750 W platinum supplies run continuously under load?

Each supply delivers up to 750 W at platinum efficiency, so sustained draw depends on the workload placed on the two Xeon Silver 4110 processors and installed drives.

Which rails or mounting hardware must already be on hand to install this 5U tower in a standard rack?

The supplier notes that front bezel and ready rails are not included, so a compatible rack conversion kit and sliding rails must be sourced separately.
