Precision 3520 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 3520 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need certified graphics and ample memory in a business chassis. An Intel Core i7 6th Gen processor running at a minimum of 2.70GHz pairs with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB M.2 SSD. The NVIDIA Quadro M620 GPU targets CAD, DCC and ISV applications. Windows 10 Pro ships with a recovery image on the drive. This unit is new old stock, sold as new.

Thermals and acoustics in daily use

The Precision 3520 uses a dual-fan cooling system designed for sustained workloads in a 15.6 inch form factor. Under typical office or light engineering tasks the fans run quietly and surface temperatures stay comfortable for lap use. Heavier GPU compute tasks raise fan speed and keyboard deck warmth, which is normal for a mobile workstation with dedicated graphics. Power draw scales with the 6th Gen Core i7 and Quadro M620 combination.

Build integration and expandability

Two memory slots hold the installed 32GB, leaving room for future upgrades if required. The M.2 slot accommodates the 1TB SSD; actual usable capacity may range between 480GB and 512GB per module specifications. The 15.6 inch 1920 x 1080 FHD non-touch display offers standard brightness for indoor work. Bluetooth and a webcam support remote collaboration. Buyers needing a second internal drive bay or a higher-wattage GPU will need a larger chassis.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 1TB M.2 SSD and what step is commonly missed?

Insert the M.2 drive at an angle into the slot, secure it with the single screw, then ensure the retention clip clicks fully — many forget the clip and the drive lifts under vibration.

What maintenance will the 32GB memory configuration need later?

The two slots are fully populated at 32GB, so future upgrades require replacing existing modules rather than adding; plan to swap both sticks for a matched kit if more capacity is needed.

What limit appears first on the Quadro M620 during sustained workloads?

The 620-class GPU hits its thermal ceiling before the CPU, causing clock throttling that reduces 3D performance during long renders or simulations.
