Precision 3650 entry workstation

The Dell Precision 3650 is a new mid-tower desktop built for professionals who need reliable performance in CAD, 3D modelling, engineering analysis and content creation. An 8-core Intel Core i7-10700 running at 2.9 GHz with 4.8 GHz turbo works alongside 32 GB of DDR4 2933 memory and a 500 GB NVMe SSD. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed and digitally activated.

Quadro P1000 graphics and expandable chassis

The Nvidia Quadro P1000 provides 4 GB GDDR5 on a 128-bit bus and four mini-DisplayPort 1.4 outputs for multi-monitor setups. Inside the black mid-tower, four DIMM slots support up to 128 GB of DDR4, while the 460 W 80PLUS Gold power supply leaves headroom for additional storage or expansion cards. Integrated Intel I219-LM Gigabit Ethernet and Realtek ALC3246 audio handle networking and sound without extra hardware.

Replaces older Precision towers for ISV-certified

This system upgrades from earlier Precision desktops that lack NVMe boot drives, 8-core CPUs or certified Quadro drivers for current ISV applications. The jump is worth it when your workflow demands ECC-ready memory slots, native Windows 11 Pro support and a power supply rated for continuous professional loads. It is not for buyers who need Xeon processors, ECC memory populated from the factory or double-slot GPU clearance beyond the single-slot Quadro form factor.

Questions about this item

Does the 500 GB NVMe drive use PCIe 3.0 or PCIe 4.0, and what throughput does that cap at?

The system ships with a 500 GB PCIe NVMe SSD; the CPU supports PCIe 3.0 lanes, so sequential reads top out around 3 500 MB/s in practice.

What physical clearance and power connectors does the Quadro P1000 need inside the 3650 chassis?

The P1000 is a single-slot card with four mini-DisplayPort 1.4 outputs; it draws all power from the PCIe slot and fits the mid-tower without auxiliary cables.

How is Windows 11 Pro activated on this workstation, and what step do buyers often miss?

Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed with digital activation; on first boot connect to the internet so the licence binds to the hardware automatically.
