Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need certified graphics and a high-resolution touch display in a slim silver chassis. It ships with Windows 10 Pro and an Intel Core i7-8850H six-core processor.

Upgrade from integrated graphics

Moving from a laptop that relies on integrated graphics or a dual-core CPU to this model adds a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P1000 with 4 GB GDDR5 memory and six cores with twelve threads. The jump is worth it when your workflow uses ISV-certified drivers for 3D modelling, CAD or video editing.

Sustained load with dual-fan cooling

Under continuous workloads the dual-fan thermal design maintains airflow across the CPU and GPU to limit throttling during long renders or simulations. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 ports stay available for external displays while the system runs at full speed.

Questions about this item

Does the 15.6" UHD 3840 x 2160 touchscreen panel add thickness that affects sleeve fit?

The InfinityEdge display keeps the chassis thin and light, so standard 15.6" sleeves fit the 5530 without extra bulk.

Which screw or latch secures the 1TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD during installation?

A single M.2 retention screw holds the drive; the common mistake is forgetting to reinstall that screw after seating the module.

Can the 8 GB DDR4 memory be expanded later, and what is the ceiling?

Yes, the board supports up to 32 GB DDR4 across two slots, so you can add a matching module when workloads grow.
