Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch UHD touchscreen laptop built for professionals who need certified graphics and colour accuracy in a thin chassis. It ships new with Windows 10 Pro and a six-core Intel Core i7-8850H processor that reaches 4.30 GHz with Turbo Boost. The NVIDIA Quadro P1000 with 4 GB GDDR5 handles CAD and 3D workloads, while the 72 % colour-gamut IPS panel supports precise visual work.

32 GB DDR4 and dual M.2 storage

Memory is fixed at 32 GB DDR4, giving ample headroom for large assemblies, multi-layer timelines and virtual machines. Storage combines a 256 GB M.2 drive with a 1 TB SSD, so the operating system and active projects stay on fast flash while the larger volume holds archives and libraries. Demanding datasets that exceed the 1 TB total will require external drives or network storage.

Thunderbolt 3 and premium build

A single Thunderbolt 3 port provides x4 PCIe bandwidth for external GPUs, high-speed RAID or dual 4 K displays at 60 Hz through one cable. HDMI 2.0 adds a second native video output, and two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports handle peripherals without adapters. The platinum-silver aluminium chassis uses dual fans to sustain performance during extended render sessions, and the InfinityEdge touch display folds flat for presentations.

Questions about this item

Will the Thunderbolt 3 port on this Precision 5530 work with my existing Thunderbolt 2 dock using an adapter?

The laptop provides one Thunderbolt 3 port with x4 PCIe lanes; a Thunderbolt 3-to-2 adapter lets you connect legacy Thunderbolt 2 docks and devices at Thunderbolt 2 speeds.

How can I confirm the 3840 x 2160 touchscreen and NVIDIA Quadro P1000 4GB GDDR5 are running correctly after setup?

Open Windows Display settings to verify 3840 x 2160 resolution and touch input, then check Device Manager or NVIDIA Control Panel to confirm the Quadro P1000 with 4GB GDDR5 is the active GPU.

Does the box include the Dell AC adapter and are any cables or drives needed to use the 256GB M.2 plus 1TB SSD configuration?

The Dell AC adapter is included; the 256GB M.2 and 1TB SSD are already installed, and Windows 10 Pro is pre-loaded, so no extra storage or cables are required to start working.
