Precision mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6 inch UHD touchscreen laptop built for engineers and creators who need certified graphics and a six-core Intel Core i9-8950HK processor in a silver chassis. It ships with Windows 10 Pro installed and a 3840 x 2160 IPS panel for colour-critical work.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 connectivity

Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port and an HDMI 2.0 output let you attach external storage, docks and a 4K monitor without adapters. The 2TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD leaves the 2.5 inch bay free, while the 8GB DDR4 configuration supports upgrades to 32GB through the available memory slots.

NVIDIA Quadro P2000 professional graphics

The dedicated 4GB GDDR5 GPU accelerates CAD, rendering and simulation workloads that integrated graphics cannot handle. Dell includes its AC adapter so the system is ready to run demanding applications immediately after unboxing.

Questions about this item

How far can the Intel Core i9-8950HK boost clock reach before thermal limits throttle it?

The processor can boost up to 4.80 GHz, but sustained loads will hit the cooling system's dual-fan thermal ceiling and reduce clocks to maintain safe temperatures.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures like during an all-day rendering workload?

Dual fans increase airflow to manage heat from the 6-core i9-8950HK and Quadro P2000, so expect audible fan spin and warm keyboard-deck areas under continuous heavy use.

Which Thunderbolt 3 peripherals or docks are required to drive external 4K displays at 60 Hz?

Any Thunderbolt 3 dock or adapter with DisplayPort alt-mode supports 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz; the laptop also has HDMI 2.0 for a second 4K 60 Hz output.
