Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6 inch UHD touchscreen laptop built around an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8850H six-core processor running at 2.60 GHz with turbo up to 4.30 GHz. It carries 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a dual-storage layout of 256 GB M.2 plus 4 TB SSD. Professional graphics come from an NVIDIA Quadro P1000 with 4 GB GDDR5 video memory. Windows 11 Pro is installed.

Upgrade from integrated graphics or smaller SSD

This configuration replaces a system that relies on integrated graphics or a single smaller drive. The dedicated Quadro P1000 and 4 TB of solid-state capacity make the jump worthwhile for CAD, rendering and multi-application workloads that need certified drivers and sustained throughput. Buyers who need more than 16 GB of memory or a newer processor generation should look elsewhere.

Straightforward deployment with standard ports

The laptop arrives with Windows 11 Pro ready to use and includes a Dell AC adapter. Connectivity covers two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt port and HDMI 2.0 for external displays. Common issues involve confirming the M.2 drive protocol before adding a second stick of memory and verifying that the 72 percent colour gamut meets specific proofing requirements.

Questions about this item

Does the 15.6" UHD touchscreen need any special mounting hardware?

The display is built into the laptop lid, so no external mounting hardware is required.

What is the correct order for installing the 256 GB M.2 and 4TB SSD drives during setup?

Insert the 256 GB M.2 drive into the M.2 slot first, then install the 4TB SSD into the 2.5-inch bay.

When will the 16 GB DDR4 memory or the dual SSD storage need replacement?

The 16 GB DDR4 is soldered and not user-replaceable; the 256 GB M.2 and 4TB SSD can be swapped later if capacity or speed needs change.
