Mobile workstation for demanding workloads

The Dell Precision 5530 pairs an 8th Gen Intel six-core i7-8850H with 32 GB DDR4 memory and a dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P1000 with 4 GB GDDR5. Dual storage combines a 512 GB M.2 drive and a 1 TB SSD. A 15.6 inch UHD touch display at 3840 x 2160 covers 72 % colour gamut. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 define external

Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports handle everyday peripherals. A single Thunderbolt 3 port carries x4 PCIe lanes for high-speed docks or external GPUs. HDMI 2.0 drives one 4K external monitor. No Ethernet port is present; wireless handles network access.

Premium silver chassis with InfinityEdge display

The thin-bezel touch panel reduces overall footprint while keeping a 15.6 inch diagonal. Dual internal fans manage thermals under sustained load. Included AC adapter powers the system. Build targets professionals who need colour-accurate touch input and workstation graphics in a portable form factor.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 512 GB M.2 plus 1 TB SSD configuration or a smaller single-drive option?

The 512 GB M.2 plus 1 TB SSD layout gives you a fast boot drive and a large project volume in one chassis, while the 32 GB DDR4 memory handles heavy multitasking.

What does the 4.30 GHz turbo figure mean when I am rendering or compiling?

The six-core i7-8850H can lift two threads to 4.30 GHz for short bursts, speeding single-threaded compile passes before the thermal solution settles back to the 2.60 GHz base across all cores.

What can the Thunderbolt 3 port actually drive on this model?

The Thunderbolt 3 connection carries x4 PCIe lanes plus HDMI 2.0 signalling, so you can attach a 3840 x 2160 external display at 60 Hz or a fast NVME enclosure without a separate dock.
