Precision 5820 tower workstation

The Dell Precision 5820 is a mid-tower desktop built around an Intel Xeon W-2255 processor with 10 cores running at 3.7 GHz and a 4.7 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 2933 registered ECC memory across four slots and a 2 TB PCIe NVMe solid-state drive. An NVIDIA Quadro P600 graphics card with 2 GB GDDR5 provides four DisplayPort outputs for multi-monitor setups. The system includes Windows 11 Pro and a 950 W 80 Plus Gold power supply.

Sustained load behaviour

The 10-core Xeon W-2255 maintains elevated clocks during extended compute tasks thanks to the tower chassis and 950 W Gold-rated supply. Registered ECC DDR4 protects data integrity during long rendering or simulation runs. The Quadro P600 drives up to four displays steadily without thermal throttling typical of smaller form factors. Gigabit Ethernet and integrated audio remain stable throughout continuous operation.

Compatibility checks

Verify that your workflow fits within the 2 TB NVMe capacity and the Quadro P600's 2 GB GDDR5 frame buffer before ordering. The motherboard offers eight DDR4 slots supporting up to 256 GB total if future expansion is required. Ensure peripheral connections match the available DisplayPort and USB interfaces on the rear I/O panel. No monitor is included with this unit.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the 950 W 80 Plus Gold power supply get under sustained load?

The 950 W 80 Plus Gold unit is rated for 90% efficiency, so less waste heat is produced during long work sessions.

Which display cables do I need for the Quadro P600's four DisplayPort outputs?

The card provides four DisplayPort connectors; you will need DisplayPort cables or adapters to match your monitors.

Will my existing DDR4-2666 ECC modules work alongside the installed 2933 MHz memory?

The system runs DDR4 at 2933 MHz; adding slower 2666 MHz modules will force all memory to run at the lower speed.
