Precision 5820 Xeon W-2145 workstation

The Dell Precision 5820 Tower is a mid-tower desktop built around an Intel Xeon W-2145 processor with eight cores running at 3.7 GHz and a 4.5 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 2666 registered ECC memory across four slots and a 2 TB PCIe NVMe solid-state drive. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed for professional environments.

Quadro P4000 8 GB GDDR5 graphics

The included Nvidia Quadro P4000 card provides 8 GB of GDDR5 memory on a 256-bit bus and four DisplayPort outputs for multi-monitor setups. Integrated Intel i219 Gigabit Ethernet and Realtek ALC3234 high-definition audio handle networking and sound without extra cards. A 950 W 80 Plus Gold power supply rated at 90 percent efficiency delivers stable power to all components.

64 GB DDR4 with 256 GB ceiling

The system populates four of eight memory slots with 16 GB modules, leaving four slots open for expansion up to the 256 GB maximum supported capacity. The single 2 TB NVMe drive offers fast primary storage, though users needing larger local datasets will require additional drives. The mid-tower chassis and 950 W unit give headroom for further GPU or storage upgrades within the platform limits.

Questions about this item

Does the Xeon W-2145 require any special cooler maintenance or replacement parts?

The workstation uses Dell's standard tower cooler for the LGA 2066 socket; no liquid loop or proprietary cartridge is fitted, so only occasional dust removal from the heatsink fins is needed.

What limits the Quadro P4000 first during long rendering sessions?

The 8 GB GDDR5 frame buffer fills before the GPU compute units saturate, so scene complexity is capped by video memory capacity.

How loud and hot does the 950 W Gold supply get under continuous load?

The 950 watt 80 Plus Gold unit runs its fan at low RPM until sustained draw approaches its rated output, keeping acoustics near idle levels for typical workstation workloads.
