Precision 5820 Tower Xeon workstation

The Dell Precision 5820 is a mid-tower desktop built around an Intel Xeon W-2235 six-core processor running at 3.60 GHz with a 4.6 GHz turbo. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 2933 MHz registered ECC memory across four slots and a 500 GB NVMe SSD. An Nvidia Quadro P2000 graphics card with 5 GB GDDR5 and four DisplayPort outputs drives professional visual workloads. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Suited for ISV-certified apps.

This system suits engineers, designers and analysts who rely on ISV-certified stability for CAD, BIM, simulation or multi-display workflows. The six-core Xeon and ECC memory provide reliable throughput for moderate datasets and concurrent applications. Buyers who need more than four display outputs, larger GPU memory for deep-learning training, or dual-socket compute density should evaluate higher-tier platforms.

64 GB ECC headroom with 256 GB ceiling

The 64 GB DDR4 2933 configuration handles typical professional workloads such as large assemblies, point-cloud processing and multi-application sessions without paging. The motherboard supports up to 256 GB across eight slots for future expansion. The single 500 GB NVMe drive offers fast boot and active-project storage; users with extensive local libraries will need secondary drives. The 950 W 80 Plus Gold supply delivers ample power for the current GPU and CPU combination.

Questions about this item

Will the four 16 GB DDR4 2933 MHz ECC modules occupy all eight memory slots or leave four free for later upgrades?

Four slots are populated with 16 GB modules each, leaving four empty slots so you can expand up to the 256 GB maximum.

Can I keep using my existing DisplayPort monitors with the Quadro P2000's four DisplayPort outputs?

Yes, the card provides four DisplayPort connectors, so any DisplayPort-compatible monitors you already own will work directly.

How can I confirm the Xeon W-2235 is reaching its 4.6 GHz turbo frequency under load?

Open Task Manager’s Performance tab or a tool such as HWiNFO while running a demanding workload; the CPU clock should show 4.6 GHz on active cores.
