Workstation for heavy compute

The Dell Precision 5820 Tower is built around an Intel Xeon W-2255 processor with 10 cores running at 3.7 GHz and a 4.7 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 128 GB of DDR4 2933 registered ECC memory across four 32 GB modules. A 2 TB PCIe NVMe solid-state drive provides the primary storage. The system targets professionals who need reliable multi-threaded performance and error-correcting memory for long workloads.

Quadro P4000 adds certified graphics

The Nvidia Quadro P4000 card brings 8 GB of GDDR5 memory on a 256-bit bus and four DisplayPort outputs. This GPU is certified for many professional CAD, DCC and visualisation applications, so driver stability replaces gaming-oriented features. Integrated Intel i219 Gigabit Ethernet and Realtek ALC3234 audio handle networking and sound without extra cards. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed and digitally activated.

Memory headroom to 256 GB

The board offers eight DDR4 slots in total, so the current 128 GB configuration leaves four free slots for expansion up to the platform maximum of 256 GB. The 950 W 80 Plus Gold power supply delivers 90 % efficiency for sustained loads. Buyers who need more than four display outputs or a second high-power graphics card should verify slot spacing and power-cable availability before ordering.

Questions about this item

How many DDR4 slots remain free for future memory upgrades?

Four of the eight DDR4 slots are still open, allowing up to 128 GB of additional registered ECC memory.

Which component reaches its thermal ceiling first during prolonged heavy workloads?

The 950 W 80 Plus Gold power supply is the first to hit its continuous-output limit under sustained full-system load.

What is the typical fan noise level when the workstation runs all day?

The 950 W Gold-rated supply runs its fan at low speed during typical all-day operation, keeping acoustic output near idle levels.
