Mobile Workstation for Professionals

The Dell Precision 7550 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built for professionals who need desktop-level performance on the go. It runs on a 10th Gen Intel Core i7-10850H six-core processor with 12 threads and 12MB cache. The system includes 16GB DDR4 memory and a 512GB NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD. An NVIDIA Quadro T2000 with 4GB GDDR6 provides certified graphics for CAD and creative applications. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Sustained Performance and Thermals

The processor operates at a 45W base power with a 2.6GHz base frequency and 2.70GHz turbo capability. This configuration supports consistent performance during extended 3D rendering, design, and data analysis workloads. The chassis is engineered to manage heat during long sessions typical of professional workflows. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles lighter tasks to conserve power when the discrete GPU is not required.

Connectivity and Upgrade Checks

Verify that your peripherals match the available ports: two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, two Thunderbolt 3 Type-C ports, HDMI 2.0, and Mini DisplayPort 1.4. An RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port and SD card reader are included. Wireless uses 802.11ac with Bluetooth. Memory can be expanded up to 64GB DDR4. Confirm the included AC adapter wattage matches your regional power requirements.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the i7-10850H get under sustained load?

The 45 W CPU runs warm under full load; expect audible fan noise and surface heat on the chassis during extended rendering or simulation tasks.

Which peripherals and cables are required to use the Thunderbolt 3 ports and Mini DisplayPort 1.4 output?

You need Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C cables for the two Type-C ports, a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 cable for external monitors, and an RJ-45 cable for wired Gigabit Ethernet.

Can the Quadro T2000 4 GB GDDR6 drive legacy displays that only have VGA or DVI inputs?

Use active Mini DisplayPort 1.4 to VGA or DVI adapters; the HDMI 2.0 port also supports passive HDMI-to-DVI cables for older digital monitors.
