Dell Precision 7710 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7710 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Core i7-6820HQ processor running at 2.70GHz. It comes with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed. The 1920x1080 non-touch display has no integrated webcam. An AC adapter is included.

Professionals needing a large screen and 32GB RAM

This suit engineers, video editors and analysts who want a 17.3 inch FHD panel and 32GB of memory in a single chassis. The 1TB SSD provides fast boot and load times for large project files. Buyers who need a touchscreen, an integrated webcam or more than 32GB of memory should look elsewhere.

1TB SSD capacity decides fit

The single specification that decides fit is the 1TB solid-state drive capacity. It determines how many active projects, virtual machines or media libraries can reside on the fastest storage tier. If the workload demands more onboard capacity, a larger drive or secondary storage is required.

Questions about this item

How is the 32GB DDR4 memory installed and what step is often missed?

The 32GB DDR4 modules fit into the internal SODIMM slots; the step often missed is pressing each module firmly until both side clips click into place.

What maintenance or replacement will the 1TB SSD need later?

The 1TB SSD has no moving parts, so it requires no mechanical maintenance; replacement is only needed if capacity runs out or a drive health tool reports wear.

What limit appears first on the Intel Core i7-6820HQ 2.70GHz during sustained heavy workloads?

The processor will hit its thermal ceiling and reduce clock speeds to stay within safe operating temperatures before any other component reaches its limit.
