Workstation class for mobile professionals

The Dell Precision 7760 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Core i9 2.90 GHz processor and NVIDIA A3000 graphics. With 64 GB of memory and a 1 TB SSD it targets engineers, designers and data scientists who need desktop grade compute in a portable chassis. The full HD 1920x1080 non touch display keeps the focus on raw performance rather than touch interaction.

Thermals noise and power under load

High performance components in a 4.19 kg frame mean the cooling system works hard during sustained rendering or simulation tasks. Expect audible fan spin when the i9 11950H and A3000 6 GB GPU push their limits. Battery life will be short under heavy workloads and the unit ships with degraded battery health so mains power is essential for serious sessions.

What the configuration enables

The 64 GB RAM allowance removes the usual bottleneck for large assemblies, point clouds or virtual machine clusters. One terabyte of solid state storage keeps active projects local without relying on external drives. Windows 11 Pro is preinstalled providing enterprise management features and a webcam is present for remote collaboration. No touchscreen or stylus support is included.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 1 TB SSD in the Precision 7760, and what step is often missed?

Remove the base cover, insert the drive into the M.2 slot at a 30-degree angle, then secure it with the single screw; the step often missed is re-engaging the battery connector before closing the chassis.

What maintenance or replacement will the 64 GB memory configuration need later?

The memory is soldered and not user-replaceable; plan for a full motherboard swap if a DIMM fails, and keep vents clean to avoid thermal throttling.

What limit appears first on the i9-11950H under sustained 2.90 GHz loads?

The 4.1900 kg chassis hits its thermal ceiling first, causing the CPU to drop below 2.90 GHz after several minutes of full-core work.
