17.3" mobile workstation with dual storage

The Dell Precision M6700 is a 17.3 inch mobile workstation running Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-3740QM quad-core processor at 2.7 GHz with 6 MB L3 cache. It ships with 16 GB of DDR3 memory, a 512 GB SSD and a 1 TB hard drive. The anti-glare Full HD display resolves 1920 x 1080 and is backed by an NVIDIA Quadro K3000M GPU with 4 GB of DDR5 video memory. A DVDRW drive, webcam, backlit numeric keyboard and 240 W AC adapter are included.

Suited for ISV-certified apps

Engineers and analysts who rely on certified drivers for 3D modelling, CAD or scientific software on a 64-bit Windows 10 platform will find the Quadro K3000M and dual-drive layout practical. The 16 GB DDR3 ceiling and third-generation Core architecture limit the machine for modern rendering, heavy virtualization or applications that demand newer instruction sets. Buyers who need more than 16 GB of system memory or a higher-resolution panel should consider other platforms.

16 GB DDR3 memory ceiling

The platform supports a maximum of 16 GB of DDR3 memory in the configuration described, with a 32 GB DDR3L option noted as a separate listing. This fixed limit decides whether the laptop can hold the datasets and concurrent applications a buyer intends to run.

How can I verify the NVIDIA Quadro K3000M with 4GB video memory is active after installing Windows 10 Pro?

Open Device Manager and confirm the Quadro K3000M appears under Display adapters; the NVIDIA control panel will also report 4GB dedicated memory.
