Dell Precision T5820 workstation

This Dell Precision T5820 tower is built for professionals who need a certified platform with error-correcting memory and a 10-core Intel Xeon W-2255 processor. It ships with 16 GB of DDR4 ECC RAM, a 1 TB NVMe solid-state drive and an Nvidia Quadro P2000 graphics card driving four DisplayPort outputs. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed and digitally activated.

Sustained workload behaviour

The 3.7 GHz base clock with 4.7 GHz turbo allows the 10 cores to maintain throughput during extended rendering, simulation or compilation tasks. Registered ECC memory protects data integrity across long runs while the 1 TB NVMe drive keeps project assets feeding the CPU without mechanical latency. The 950 W 80 Plus Gold supply delivers stable power at 90 % efficiency under continuous load.

Thermals, noise and power

Dell’s tower chassis and 950 W Gold-rated power supply manage heat from the Xeon CPU and Quadro P2000 GPU during typical workstation use. Fan speeds scale with component temperatures so acoustic output stays low during lighter duties and rises only when the 10 cores and 5 GB GDDR5 frame buffer are fully utilised. Power draw tracks workload intensity without exceeding the supply’s rated capacity.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the 950 W 80 Plus Gold power supply run when the Xeon W-2255 and Quadro P2000 are under sustained load?

The 950 W 80 Plus Gold unit is rated for 90 % efficiency, so waste heat and fan noise stay lower than on standard supplies during all-day workloads.

What display cables or adapters do I need to connect monitors to the Quadro P2000's four DisplayPort outputs?

The card provides four DisplayPort connectors; you need DisplayPort cables or DisplayPort-to-HDMI/DVI adapters for each monitor you attach.

Will my existing DDR4 2666 MHz ECC modules work alongside the installed 16 GB DDR4 2933 MHz memory in the eight DIMM slots?

Yes, the board has eight slots supporting up to 256 GB; slower DDR4 2666 MHz ECC DIMMs will run at the lower speed when mixed with the 2933 MHz kit.
